Most frequent questions and answers
As a rule, Functional Medicine is NOT covered by typical health insurance. There are times when standard laboratory tests are ordered and those can be run through your health insurance. Also, your first visit may often be covered by health insurance as it is a routine visit to establish care and determine your needs. After your first visit, if you agree to Functional Medicine care, insurance will not cover future visits and you will be switched to a cash pay basis. Functional Medicine utilizes very thorough laboratory testing as well as much longer office visits, neither of which are covered by health insurance companies. As always, you can choose to not utilize Functional Medicine and can elect to be a standard family practice patient, in which case we can bill your health insurance. But, as Functional Medicine is a root cause form of healthcare, family practice care does not dig as deep and is not for considerable medical conditions.
